Bruce and Emy P. "UM workers in the Middle East supported by First UMC"
Would you help save Iraqi
children with heart disease? You can do so by buying a pair of Iraqi-made
"klash" shoes, very comfy because they are made from cloth in the
traditional style of the Kurds. All profits go toward surgery for young Muslim
heart patients, who are sent to Israel where Jewish doctors donate their time
free of charge--the only bill is for hospital charges.
So the program is both
economical and earth-shattering: it requires a huge change of heart
for Muslims to send their children off to Israel to be cured---truly a
ministry of reconciliation!
Please

This is a project of young American workers whom Emy and I know personally. Because of their shoes-for-surgery project, they have found an opening for Christian witness among the Muslim Kurds, not least among the shoemakers and the families of the sick children.
